There have been rumours and mutterings about this for some time . Now it looks more serious. OFCOM are talking about FM switch off by around 2015/17 . Many of us know that DAB is a pretty poor now a days , especially when compared to the superior AAC+ encoding employed in DAB+ .  But no plans are suggested as far as I can see for DAB+ here in the UK. (other countries e.g. Austrailia are adopting.) The UK has a large installed base of DAB radios. Their respective owners won’t be happy at the thought of perhaps having to replace them again.  See this article for more details and links to the OFCOM report.

I’ve just read the report via the above Guardian article. No mention at all given to the audio quality of these services.
