Not something we always think about when buying new products. The subject rarely features in the reviews or magazines unless something horrible has gone wrong. Two independent events that are worth mentioning. Canon UK recently repaired my near mint Ixus 500 free of charge. The LCD developed a crack, but clearly the unit hadn’t been abused but was now out of warranty. Full marks to Canon for taking the care and providing such good will. I’ll buy Canon again!

Similar story about my son’s Mustek camcorder. This did in fact full victim to an accident in the home. Mustek made the unusual (in my general experience) gesture and replaced with a high standard refurbished unit. Full marks to Mustek for their efforts to keep us using their product in spite of it being our fault on this occasion.
